This luxury vacation home is set on the edge of the Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge near the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica. Set on top of a hill with partial views of the sea, the house is constructed amidst the trees to preserve the jungle that surrounds it. During the day, the house captures sea breezes from the north; at night it is cooled by the mountain breezes from the south.
All the living quarters are on the second floor to take advantage of the panoramic views of the forest, catch the sea breezes, prevent dampness and discourage wild animals from wandering in. The master suite occupies one pavilion, the guest quarters occupy another, and an open-plan family area with a large study and living/dining room is in the center. This main pavilion, with its tall ceilings and almost seamless transitions from interior to exterior, gives the heart of the house a feeling of airy spaciousness.
El Refugio is available for lease with lengths of stay arranged according to availability, from one week to longer periods of time. A housekeeper and two maintenance men work at the house and on the farm, providing onsite cleaning. The house has a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, bikes, weights, and a small workout room. There are options for a cook and a driver for airport pickup.

Cancellation
Policy |
If you find it necessary to
cancel your reservation, we charge a $50 cancellation fee. We
will refund the balance of your deposit, less any banking fees,
within 2 weeks of your request. If you cancel within 30 days
of your reservation date or no-show, no refund is available.
Should you arrive and not stay the length of your reservation,
no refund is available. |
